Expectation and Assumption
Two words that might destroy you
Life is about learn and unlearn new things, values and everything in between. Trough this writing, I want to tell you what I have been learned lately, in past few months. It’s all about expectation and assumption. We are human, living side by side with these two and it’s almost impossible to get rid of them, but we can try our best to manage them for the main objective; to protect ourselves. Let me breakdown one by one;
Expectation
What is expectation? it’s a strong belief that something will happen or be the case in the future. Living with expectation gives us hope and faith. But in the other side, it’s also one strongest thing that can makes us disappointed, sad, anger and every negative emotion we could have.
Expectation is a kind a poison & medicine in one bottle. It can saves you from the awful world but it also can turns your world to be awful. My point is, we need to learn to manage our expectation, towards ourselves, toward this life and towards everyone in it. Managing expectation can prevent us from drowning to ocean of disappointment.
Assumption
Another thing that we should manage other than expectation is assumption. So, what is assumption? a willingness to accept something as true without question or proof. We do assume all the time, we assume that some of things will happen this way or that person will acts that way and etc. Some of our assumptions might wrong and we’ll surprise when that happens and probably breaks our heart. So another lesson learn, let’s assume less, clarify more. Whenever in doubt, asking question and clarify. Assumption is hypothesis, you need extra work to proof it and turns it into fact. Otherwise, just forget it, let’s assume less so we don’t need an extra work to proof it.
