It’s Okay Not to Be Okay

We are human, we are not designed to be perfect. We can’t be strong all the time or happy all the time. We are not always fine, and that is totally fine.

“Not only is it okay to not feel ‘okay,’ it is essential. An abnormal emotional response to an abnormal situation IS normal. We cannot simply pick the emotions we want to have. It just does not work that way,” Dr. Zuckerman said.

We can’t pick what we feel, that just happens. Please, allow ourselves to feel whatever we feel. Allow ourselves to have a moment when being okay is so hard. We don’t have to be positive all the time. Because to be positive all-time sometimes can be toxic, it can lead us to just ignore our feelings and skip that “not okay” moment. Don’t invalidate our feelings just because we think we have an obligation to always be positive. To be sad & angry is normal, just because we feel that way, doesn't mean we are incapable to control our emotions. If we are sad, be it.

“It is okay to not feel okay right now.”

“You should feel whatever emotions you want to feel.”

“Take your time. I am with you and I’m listening.”

“You’re allowed to feel this way. Your feelings are valid.”

Say those louder to yourself! Take a moment to embrace the feelings, be vulnerable. Just like storms, this shall too pass. Sooner we’re going to be better. They said nothing last forever, just like your feeling.
