Thanks, Life! I am Grateful
“Everything in your life happens for a reason”
I kept smiling while I was alone in the airport last Saturday. I enjoyed music in my ears, most of them are worship music with a new fresh book in my hand. It’s fresh because I just bought in the airport bookstore, for your information, my book’s title is “Sapiens: A history of Humankind”, it’s a very good book. In the middle of reading my book, I saw around and smiling again, whispered slowly, “life is so good”. I know Universe is so good to me. I felt so blessed. This story is a part of my gratitude and I will show you why Efrilia finally can find a way to be grateful,
- People I Have Met
People that I have met in my 23 years of life. Wonderful people with different stories. Some of them were really nice and some of them taught me how to be grateful (through unpleasant experiences). Sometimes I think, why most of the people that I have met are really good to me, they did something that makes me feel the love of God. I can say I am very humanist, I focus more on people than things. I love to observe people, how they interact and treat others. Interaction of human is very beautiful. Interaction can be in the form of love or hatred, it can spark joy or sadness.
For example, right now I am in the Management Trainee Program in a Leading FMCG. I am surrounded by very nice people around me even months before we were totally stranger. Some of them even can call me just for checking me if I am okay or not. One of them can listen to all my bullshit stories just to make me okay. I feel their love, laugh & joy of friendship.
2. The Pain I Have Been Through
If I look back and connecting the dots, I can realize how the past experiences, failures, sadness and all that unpleasant things that happened in my life are bringing me to who I am right now. Growing up in a broken family was never easy, but it shapes me. The painful process in life made me grow up into a strong person and give me a very big motivation to change my life. Not only stop there, I still remember my biggest failure in my 23 years process of life. It was the time that I got rejected from my dream university. Even I studied very hard, I went through 3 different tests to get in, but in the end that place was not meant for me and never will be. And many more day to day failures in life. But all of them never stop there. I am really grateful for those bad experiences in life. They taught me that life is a journey and it won’t be an easy one. Just like birds, they don’t just fly, they fall down and get up.
3. Sharing Joy to People
“Cara bersyukur adalah membagikan berkat kepada sesama”
Sharing to others makes your heart full. Sharing can give you joy that you can not get from any other activity. Sharing is not about money or things that you can see with eyes. We can start share from a simple thing like throwing a smile to random people, giving an opportunity to others or simply share your knowledge.
Trust me, every random act of kindness can change the world to be a better place. Let’s be the reason someone believes that humanity still exists within a human :)
4. Change the Mind
The mind can be a best friend or an enemy, it’s a matter how you can have control over them. I have been through the days when my mind was a really bad enemy, the one that hurts me. I seek help in order to keep my mind sane. And I found a good book, “ A Monk Who Sold His Ferrari”. The book explains that the face of the world is within your mind. The world can be a very beautiful place if you think it is and I have tried my best to practice it in my daily life. Learn to make up my own mind and to think differently.
